Le Manoir hanté de Crec'h-ar-Vran

The Great Psychagogue Sâr Dubnotal was the hero of a series of 20 occult thrillers, published by Eichler from 1909, that combined crime-fighting on the material and spiritual planes. Their authorship is unknown; prolific pulp writer Norbert Sévestre is often suggested as the probable author, but there is no evidence. They were evidently dashed off rapidly (and are all the more joyous for their occasional lapses into perfunctoriness). Starace's magnificent covers are not the least attraction of this splendid series.
